"In the Evening" is a light but poignant madrigal ode to the changing New England seasons. This song works well either as a quartet or choral number, with the option of having soprano and tenor soloists. Originally from Kendrick's opera "Emily," about the Amherst poetess Emily Dickinson, the song has original music and lyrics by Kendrick but is a stand-alone piece. Intermediate level choir recommended. Watch a video of the First Parish Medfield Choir singing "In the Evening."
