Eva Kendrick is the Director of the Eva Kendrick Voice Studio, Professor of Voice at Dean College in the Theatre Department, and Director of Music at First Parish Unitarian Universalist of Medfield. She was also Chair of the Music Theory Department and on the Voice Faculty at the Community Music Center of Boston for 12 years. In addition to voice lessons, she also offers vocal coaching, college audition coaching and instruction in music theory, sight-singing and composition.

Vocal Coaching for Auditions
Eva is a coach who provides individualized training for auditions of all kinds, including local and professional theatre, summer programs, arts schools and musical theatre college auditions. With a vast knowledge of musical theatre repertoire, styles and technique she helps students select audition songs that showcase their unique voice and talent, appropriate to their age and level of experience.

College & Summer Program Audition Preparation

Eva coaches students and families beginning the college audition process to offer an overview of what to expect from different music/musical theatre/theatre degree programs. She also provides resume consultation and prepares students for music theory, sight-reading entrance exams.

Eva's students have been accepted into many prestigious summer programs including the Juilliard School Summer Musical Theatre Intensive,  American Songbook Academy, Interlochen Summer Musical Theatre Program, NYU-Tisch Summer Intensive; The Muny Summer Intensive; Boston/BOCO Summer Musical Theatre & Choral Intensive, Artsbridge, Walnut Hill School for the Arts Summer Program, French Woods, Broadway Evolved, Broadway Triple Threat and more.

EKVS alums have attended the following for Music/Musical Theatre: NYU-Tisch, Indiana University, Emerson College, Carnegie Melon, University of Southern California, Muhlenberg College, Manhattan Marymount, Oberlin College, Berklee School of Music, Smith College, University of New Hampshire, Belmont University, Ball State University, the International College of Musical Theatre (U.K.) and more.

Philosophy
Eva believes in a natural, healthy, and mindful approach to voice production, both in singing and in speaking. A typical lesson involves exercises in breathing and vocalizations as well as working on repertoire. Eva will recommend specific songs for singers' progress, and students are also welcome to make suggestions, because it is important for singers to be excited about their music. Eva enjoys working with students of all ages and experience levels. She usually teaches students 10 and older but may occasionally make an exception. Music theory and sight-singing/ear-training can be incorporated into voice lessons as well.

Performance Opportunities
EKVS holds three annual recitals: a spring recital, a Summer Scenes concert in August and a winter recital as well as a Senior Showcase for graduating high school seniors and Performance Practice classes.  Eva is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and encourages students to participate in local competitions, Districts and theatre. She also directs the Trills 'n Chills a cappella group.
